Mission Masses give us the chance to come together with supporters and volunteers. We pray for missionaries, meet Mill Hill Missionaries to hear about their experiences and get inspired to be missionaries in our own parish communities.

Recently, people came from across the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia for our Mass at St David’s Priory Church, Swansea. Fr Gerry, the Vicar General of the Mill Hill Missionaries, and Missio’s Diocesan Director, Canon Paul, concelebrated Mass. The people of the parish were so welcoming.

In his homily, Fr Gerry shared some of his first-hand experiences as a missionary in Africa, as well as  his recent visit to communities in Cameroon which are served by Mill Hill Missionaries and supported  through the Red Box.

‘Fr Gerry’s homily gave us an insight into what’s really going on,’ says Susan. ‘Because we live so far away, in such a safe environment, we don’t always hear that sort of thing.’

‘I thought it was very inspiring,’ agrees Local Secretary, Ann. ‘It makes you think: “what can I do?”.’

‘It’s always a pleasure and a privilege to come to different places and meet the people who are behind our missionary work,’ Fr Gerry shares.

‘It’s lovely to meet them, but also to share some of the stories that they’re making possible through their support.’

We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us in Swansea and all of our Mission Masses  throughout the year. Each of you is a vital part of our global mission – to ignite God’s love in all corners of the world!

As Red Box Local Secretary, Anne-Marie, says: ‘You don’t have to be a missionary going out on foot. Even if you’re just counting a Red Box in your house, you’re spreading that message.’
