Together we are helping missionaries share the love of Jesus overseas (Red Box)
Together we are enriching today’s global Catholic community. Missio shares the Good News of the Gospel by striving to be a channel of God’s love for all people; inviting them to meet and know Jesus Christ and embrace the freedom that comes from being a child of God. We can only achieve this together.
For more than 200 years, we have been supporting world mission, providing missionaries with the spiritual and material support they need to enable local people to build and sustain their own faith communities.
Today we continue to empower the Catholic Church globally, sharing the love of Christ with everyone, and especially to those in greatest need. We achieve this with our partners, the Mill Hill Missionaries, and your Red Box donations.
Red Box – Missio and Mill Hill
In England and Wales, Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries work together through the Red Box partnership. We jointly make parish appeals for prayers, donations, and support through regular giving.
For over 80 years now the Red Box has been a symbol of faith, hope and love in people’s homes.
The income from the Red Box is shared 60/40 between Missio and the Mill Hill Missionaries. Missio’s share supports faith communities and the sharing of the Gospel message in dioceses where the Church is still young or poor overseas. The Mill Hill Missionaries’ share supports the formation and training of its future missionaries.
In England and Wales there are Red Boxes in over 200,000 homes and together we have collected millions of pounds for the missionary Church.
Did you know you can give directly to the Red Box online, or set up a Direct Debit? Contact us if you would like more information on how you can take part in this essential programme.

Missio Today

Today Missio makes an impact in 1,070 mission dioceses in 157 countries. Through your support we transform lives by listening to local needs and acting in the most effective way: we create infrastructure in impoverished and remote areas; we help to build chapels, schools and orphanages; we facilitate clinics and dispensaries; and we create hubs from which the young church can flourish and grow.
All of this was initially made possible by the vision of one inspirational woman, Pauline-Marie Jaricot, founder of the Association for the Propagation of the Faith (APF). In 1822, Pauline motivated people to donate one penny a week to support overseas mission. Founded in the spirit of philanthropy, the vast scope of our missionary work today is a tribute to you, our present-day donors, whose continued generosity through the Red Boxes enable us to continue God’s mission.
You can keep up to date with news from the mission field through Mission Today, our quarterly magazine for supporters.
